Talented and motivated students are invited to apply for an NSF-funded graduate research assistantship (GRA) position, starting in Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 at the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville, to pursue for a doctoral degree in environmental science with a focus on food-energy-water nexus in urban systems.

About the Graduate Position 

This GRA offers a highly rewarding opportunity to perform transdisciplinary data-driven research on UT campus and at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), which is 25-mile away from UT. The successful candidate will be working with a multidisciplinary team of leading urban environmental scientists at UT and ORNL and have ample opportunities to collaborate with international scientists from many countries during the study period

Eligibility

  • Candidates who are interested in environmental data science, simulation and modeling, and sustainability issues are preferred.
  • Experiences in computer programming and data analytics, for instance, Python, Matlab, LabView, and web programming (JSON, HTML5, and JavaScript) are desirable.
  • Candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are self-driven
